The McKinney Housing Authority will accept applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist.

MHA has the following Local Preferences
- Homeless
- Displaced by Government Entity
- Non Elderly persons with disabilities who are:
• Transitioning out of institutional or other segregated setting,
• At serious risk of institutionalization,
• Homeless, or
• At risk of becoming homeless
Applications will be accepted on October 30 at 9am online. We will close the list upon receiving 250 applicants. Anyone needing a special accommodation or the elderly and disabled may come into our office to complete an application on our public computer.
Note: Some smart phones may not allow you to see the complete application
The waitlist will send an automatic renewal notice after 180 days. If you fail to respond to the email notice, the system will email a warning and proceed to drop your application after 07days.

Las solicitudes serán aceptadas el 30 de octubre a las 9 am en línea. Cerraremos la lista al recibir 250 solicitantes. Cualquier persona que necesite un alojamiento especial o personas mayores y discapacitadas pueden venir a nuestra oficina para completar una solicitud en nuestra computadora pública.

La lista de espera enviará un aviso de renovación automática después de 180 días. Si no responde al aviso de correo electrónico, el sistema le enviará una advertencia por correo electrónico y procederá a retirar su solicitud después de los 7 días.

Non Elderly Preference -
Eligible household: A household composed of one or more non-elderly person with disabilities, which may include additional household members who are not non-elderly persons with disabilities. A household where the sole member is an emancipated minor is not an eligible household.
•Non-elderly person with disabilities (for purposes of determining eligibility): A person 18 years of age or older and less than 62 years of age, and who: (i) Has a disability, as defined in 42 U.S.C. 423;
(ii) Is determined, pursuant to HUD regulations, to have a physical, mental, or emotional impairment that: (A) Is expected to be of long-continued and indefinite duration;
(B) Substantially impedes his or her ability to live independently, and (C) Is of such a nature that the ability to live independently could be improved by more suitable housing conditions; or
(iii) Has a developmental disability as defined in 42 U.S.C. 6001.
All categories of homelessness under the HUD definition:
Category 1: Literally homeless (shelter, unsheltered, in a place not meant for human habitation)
Category 2: At risk of homelessness (losing their housing within 14 days and have no subsequent housing identified)
Category 3: Homeless under other Federal programs (RHY, DOE, etc.)
Category 4: Fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence
Households at risk of homelessness:
Different than HUD’s Category 2 definition of homelessness
Covers households who are at risk of homelessness due to their housing instability
